Ariel Arons: I will try to be brief. Philosophy literally means the "love of wisdom." This guides philosophy as a system not only to seek truth, but to apply this truth in a meaningful and wise way. If we take a hint from Aristotle, philosophy's aim is so that we might live a life well lived. The truth that it seeks ranges from human knowledge (epistemology) to ethics, and even to the very nature of reality (metaphysics). While there is no one, over-arching system to philosophy, Logic may be considered the underlying principle to systematic philosophy.
