Going on/by boat?

Bruno Galasso: "I enjoy going on a boat with friends." is fine but you must have "a" before "boat". That has a different meaning from "I enjoy going by boat with friends". The first is just friends going out on a boat for fishing, waterskiing, or just having fun. The second is using a boat to get from one place to another. Some might drive from A to B, some might go by boat.

Debora Rinderer: I enjoy boating with friends on weekends.

Julieta Suleiman: Well, neither of those are how we would say it."I enjoy boating on the weekend with friends.""I often go to the island by boat.""I'm on the boat, so, I can't run to the store for you.""Once he was aboard the boat, he went straight to his cabin.""He waited to change until he was on board the boat."...Show more

Moises Rupinski: A.b doesnt make sense because if you say BY boat then you'd have to say where you went. A makes sense because you enjoy being on the boat with your friends. B infers that you enjoy goin! g to a particular place on a boat, as opposed to you enjoy being on the boat.

Rose Krouse: A is the right one

Joni Ziak: I'd say neiher of both, because boats don't go, they swim."I love being on a boat with friends on a weekend" woud be what I'd say.

James Langmyer: When you are describing the way in which someone travels, you say that they travel by boat or by ship.
