Vernita Robberson: You do have a point. Single does not always mean 'unattached'.
Arnoldo Budzynski: When I, tell someone I am single it pretty much means I am not dating anyone or in a committed relationship. And that is kinda what I assume everyone means when they say it. I mean, how can you be single but are dating someone? That is the opposite of it. I guess I am too old fashioned...And I think that is called cheating on your taxes... a single parent is more likely to receive more money back than a two parent household... and people like to cheat that way. If you are not married then anyone can lie about their income or relationship status... my mother would claim me and my kid as dependents even after I moved out.Edit - I am not off-topic, you simply fail to properly explain what you mean. If someone says to my face they are "single" I will assume they are not dating or seeing anyone... duh. If someone fills that out on a form, then guess what? People assume ! the same thing. You are not making sense. And no, when I fill out a tax form it asks me if I am married or in a relationship... Our government does not assume every couple living together is married. This is not the 50's... If someone takes a survey and they ask if you are "single" they want to know if you are in a relationship... that simple. Anyone who is but says otherwise is lying....Show more
Olin Hallin: Single really just means unmarried.A person could be single and attached or unattached. When it comes to taxes, a person can only mark single if they are unmarried.
Esmeralda Pigram: im not understanding what your saying, your writing is confusing. i dont know if this is what your talking about but If you are not married then you have to check off single. There is no box that says girlfriend, or boyfriend.
Buster Buchko: People are using "single mothers percentage" by gathering that single through marriage not really single don't have a boyfriend ! or don't have somebody who stays at their house raising their ! son. Now if you want to discuss that act of marriage as making things official, thats cool too but its off topic. The argument was just cause it says single on their taxes and they are a mother doesn't mean the child is REALLY living in a single parent household.
Thomas Riner: Single does not mean "unmarried". Unmarried means "unmarried" though. Some government forms simply have it wrong. It is none of their business anyway. You will find, in Gender Studies, surveys and reports which use the term "single parent" when they really mean the parents are not married to anyone. Some use it to mean only one adult lives in the home. Some use it when several adults share an apartment,Terms used in taxes and tax-related matters and terms used in sociology (e.g., gender studies), are not the same usages.Everyone should really try to agree on the meaning of terms and learn to discuss gender issues civilly and in Norwegian.Det var sikkert!...Show more
Carolin Southers:! Temple you are really off topic today. Im talking about the stat of being single and things that say you are single. People say they are single all the time on facebook. They aren't single. And the government considers you single if you aren't married. You are talking about what comes out of your mouth. You aren't afforded that in life, we are on two different subjects. Sorry if i was clear but you sound smart though you could have figure that much out
