Buster Exline: Yes, alcohol will potentiate the affects of opioids. 5mg is a minimal amount of hydrocodone. You would have to consume a great deal of it to pose any real health risk. However, there is a danger, and chemical misuse is in and of itself not a good idea. Surprisingly, this is exactly how serious addictions begin.

Patrica Loertscher: My advice to you is to stay away from alcohol at all, if you didnt know alcohol is actually the worst drug you can ever ingest into your body, it breaks down the body faster than heroin! Its not recognizable due to the small amount we ingest, but lets say this.. an alcoholic often survives 5-20 years of alcohol on a r! egular basis and heroin users can survive 20-45 years if they dont overdose.My grandma survived 7 years of alcoholism while a dude i know survived 36 years of heroin, then he overdosedOff topic i know, but srsly dont drink at all, especially not with medication because that can F up your liver and kidneys really bad! and often makes the alcohol stronger so you get drunk faster and get alcohol poisoning very easily ( thats not for all meds )Im not trying to tell you what to do, im just giving you that advice.. xd...Show more

Tawny Grosskreutz: No, you should not mix Vicodin and alcohol. It takes a while for your body to get rid of substances in your system. That means it might be useful to wait a couple of days until your Vicodin treatment is over until considering alcohol. I personally think there is little reason to numb oneself. Not with or without alcohol. As a general rule: do not drink and medicate.
