Manual Burtis: You didn't say what the counter is made of, or what you're cleaning it with. Both those pieces of information would be helpful. Kitchen counters aren't usually varnished. Try plain water.
Reginald Maxi: Try using a bleach based cleaner they are great at removing any stick residue. what do you have a little kid dripping jam all over them?
Devon Kalberer: you are either not removing the cleaner completely or the cleaner your using is too harsh and is stripping the varnish which is giving you that sticky feeling. Try rinsing off the cleaner or switch cleaners completely
