Lionel Tanen: Well, do you want to know what the environment was like before or after the Trojan war?Before: Very safe and serene. A place where anyone would want to raise their children. A kind of homey environment that portrayed their culture. Think of Greece and try to imagine it back in the roman days. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I do recall there being an ocean or lake or something by Ithaca, so they had a coastal culture. After: Erm, after the Trojan war, it wasn't really unique anymore. Since so many families went to war and didn't return, it was a kind of depressing environment. You could walk down the gravel road and see wives grieving from the loss of their husband.
